The objective of this rapid review is to determine the basic professional qualification required of midwives in countries with better MMR compared to Malaysia.

What did the review find?
• 63 documents retrieved from 35 (47%) countries were included in this review (75 countries with better MMR compared to Malaysia based on the World Bank 2015 data).
• Minimum qualification for midwifery in the included countries ranged from certificate of midwifery to master’s degree.
