Aim:

To identify outcome indicator(s) used for monitoring pressure injury prevention

What did the review find?
• There were only six countries and nine documents were included that had published information in English and were included in this review.
• Pressure ulcers were monitored differently across all studies, with three countries (United Kingdom, Australia, and the USA) measuring the outcome using prevalence and incidence, while one country (Canada) using incidence.
• Two other countries (Belgium and New Zealand) monitors pressure ulcers quality using prevalence only.
• All studies had used different reporting mechanisms, either through the existing hospital data or notifications.
• The review found that different countries use different criteria for monitoring pressure injury.
