Current situation
Malaysian maternal mortality rates have been stagnant for past few years. There were increasing number of complex antenatal cases contributing to the number of maternal deaths.
Issue
Do the community nurses, who provide the majority of front liner antenatal care in public sector, have the appropriate skills and competencies to refer cases appropriately?
Objective
To determine the qualification of midwives in public primary care/community clinics for provision of quality and safe antenatal care.
